Bega Cheese launch plant based vegan cheese!
Bega Cheese launch plant based vegan cheese!
Within the plant-based movement, there are times when certain products are released that mark a significant move forward, the Bega launch is one of these.
Bega is a much-loved Australian brand that has always stood for one thing…dairy.
So to see a brand such as Bega launching into the plant-based sector feels like something pretty special. We are thrilled to see this step forward and can’t wait to see more brands following suit and providing plant-based products to us all.
About the launch
Bega Plant-Based Cheddar Cheese Style (Bega Plant-Based Cheese) is a deliciously melty plant-based cheese made in Strathmerton and cut in the Bega Valley.
Bega Group (Bega) is this week introducing an extension to its much-loved and varied product portfolio, announcing the arrival of its Australian-made and owned plant-based cheese style range under its namesake for the first time since it was established in 1899.
The launch of Bega’s Plant-Based Cheese, in sliced and shredded formats, is a step towards making Bega’s expertise more available to those following a plant-based diet. With one-quarter of Aussies now consuming plant-based dairy, be it vegans or flexitarians, Bega’s knowledge of dairy craftsmanship gives them the credentials to create a great cheese-style product for those who are seeking a plant-based product or looking for a dairy-free – friendly option.
“The launch of Bega’s Plant-Based cheese is an important evolution to ensure that Bega Group is positioned to take advantage of the growing plant-based segment. We have credentials in cheese making and we’re excited to leverage this knowledge and expertise to create a great tasting dairy-free range under the Bega brand,”
said General Manager Marketing at Bega Foods, Matt Gray.
Bega Plant-Based Cheese Marketing Manager, Niamh Farrell added,
“Bega’s Plant-Based Cheese range has undergone sensory testing to create a smooth, creamy, cheese-style product that delivers on texture and taste. The range is proudly in line with the quality of Bega’s great portfolio of products that our consumers know and love.”
Bega is a proud food company that has been delivering great food to Australians for over 123 years. The opportunity to introduce a plant-based cheese alternative is an exciting extension to Bega’s portfolio to date. “Bega Plant-Based Cheese is all Bega, no dairy. Bega is passionate about food and wants to make sure everyone can enjoy our new Bega Plant-Based Cheese. It has a great cheesy flavour and most importantly, it melts in toasties!” added Farrell. Bega Plant Based Cheddar Cheese Style is available at Coles from today and Independent Stores from July.

I saw the Bega cheese in the supermarket yesterday and had to try it as I dont like many vegan cheeses. This one is pretty good and I’d buy it again. I just bought a heap of Vegan Life cheeses to try which so far are really good also but love that Bega is Australian and not from overseas.
