Nandos launches Great Pretender plant based protein nationally

Nandos launches Great Pretender.

Nandos is known, for one thing, chicken. Whilst this is their staple, they have now finally joined the ranks of other fast food outlets across Australia and launched nationally (after soft roll-outs at selected stores) a plant-based protein (available in a burger, wrap, or pita) called The Great Pretender.

The company announced the burger this week and so far the response has been incredibly positive.

The Great Pretender they say is a high-protein way for those looking to eat less meat or fancy a day off to get their fix! For regular visitors to Nandos, you can still get your PERi-PERi fix, choosing your favourite basting from BBQ to xtra hot with the new plant protein.

What do strict vegans think?

Whilst some vegan & plant-based eaters have been put off by the fact that they do cook the patty on the same grill as it’s animal flesh counterparts, many have said they would still eat and support a plant-based option for the purpose of driving demand for alternatives forward.

Take a look at the Brisbane launch of the alternative protein earlier this year.

Final Thoughts

So what do you think of Nando’s new menu item? Have you tried it? Would you try it? We’d love to hear your comments in the comments section below.

Otherwise, be sure to check out some other plant-based fast food options HERE.

LGV!
