Nup to the Cup 2024: Vegan-Friendly Events Around Australia
Nup to the Cup 2024
As the Melbourne Cup approaches, we are happy to see that each year many more Australians are opting out of the traditional horse racing festivities in favour of more compassionate, cruelty-free alternatives.
In response, the Nup to the Cup movement has grown significantly over the years, offering events that align with values of kindness, sustainability, and animal welfare, and we couldn’t be happier to see it.
In order to help you find an event in your city, here is our roundup of Nup to the Cup events happening around Australia in 2024. If we have missed an event you believe should be included please let us know at hey@letsgovegan.com.au

Melbourne Cup Protest At Ascot
Description from organisers: Recent media attention surrounding the tragic death of Black Caviar has demonstrated that even the highest prizewinning horses ($7,953,936) do not get a dignified retirement. They are exploited until they drop dead in this greed driven industry.
Horse Racing Kills!
Join us to protest the Melbourne Cup outside Ascot Racecourse on the 5th November.
Horses endure whips, tongue ties and bits, forced to race beyond their limits, with an on-track fatality every two days, and thousands more horses sent to knackeries annually across Australia, it’s time to end the animal cruelty and ban horse racing.
Please dress smart-casual – dressing up is encouraged.
Come prepared for the weather – bring a hat, sunscreen and water.
Meet on the corner or Raconteur Dr (near gate 6) at 9am or find us opposite Gate 4 or 6 if arriving late.
Signs and banners provided.
Final Thoughts
These events are a great opportunity to celebrate compassion while enjoying the best of what the vegan community has to offer, which is the coming together of likeminded people and enjoying amazing vegan food!
Be sure to check for more events which may be added closer to the race. Let’s say Nup to the Cup 2024!
