Oatly and the rise of plant-based milk
Let’s face it, milk, as it was traditionally known, is facing some competition.
In 2020 there are so many plant-based alternatives from oat, almond, rice, coconut & soy to name a few popular varieties. Within these categories, a whole lot of brands are popping up to fill the demand and ever-changing taste of consumers. In Australia, we have access to all of these varieties and the consumer seems to be guzzling it down as quickly as they can get it.
In this feature however we are looking at one of the most popular brands on the market Oatly. Oatly is a Swedish company that produces one of the most popular plant-based kinds of milk on the market. If you have had Oatly in your coffee then you probably know why.
What are the media saying?
In a recent video from CNBC Make It, they took a closer look at this unique company and how it built itself into a 100million dollar business. As fans ourselves, we can certainly understand it, and for those new to Oatly…well you are in for a treat.
The segment pointed out that in the US alone last year sales of dairy alternative milk reached 1.83 Billion Dollars! So this is a segment not going anywhere, and we couldn’t be happier to see so many more ethical alternatives flooding the market.
Vice also featured the brand 12 months ago in one of their new features.
Take a look and let us know if you have a favourite plant-based milk you think we should be featuring next!
