Plant Vibes Music Festival launches this year!

Plant Vibes Music Festival A music festival that benefits animal rescue sanctuaries.

For the sanctuaries that rescue, rehabilitate and re-home animals in need, the last three years have been devastating as drought, fires, floods and rising food prices, alongside the financial and social restrictions of a worldwide pandemic have taken their toll.

Facing these challenges with mostly only donations and volunteers, those who help the animals are in dire need of help themselves.

“Caring for injured, surrendered and neglected animals has been increasingly difficult during the last few years,” says Kerrie Carroll, founder of Lucky Stars Sanctuary. “First bushfires and drought, then COVID and now never ending rain has decimated our ability to fundraise effectively and have volunteers attend working bees and contribute to the care of the animals. We have heavy hearts as we have had to turn away animals needing a safe place as we just don’t have the funds.”

Plant Vibes Music Festival was dreamed up in 2019 as a way to support a number of animal sanctuaries in NSW. Three years later, it’s finally coming to fruition, with a bigger goal than ever. Co-director of the festival, Mem Davis, explains that what began as a simple fundraiser has grown beyond the team’s wildest imagination.

“The profits of this festival will benefit the sanctuaries, but it will also provide an opportunity for the community to come together again – as well as supporting live music.”

Plant Vibes has just launched a fundraiser campaign to help cover the massive costs of production. All donors will receive a special perk as a huge thank you for being one of the founding members of Plant Vibes Music Festival.

Plant Vibes is a collaboration between the Illawarra Music Foundry, the University of Wollongong UniBar, and a group of passionate entrepreneurs. Their joint vision is to create a memorable event that showcases plant-based artists on stage and a plant-based lifestyle through a variety of vendors and activities.

Australia is the third fastest growing vegan market worldwide. More than just a diet, Australian and global markets now boast vegan fashion, vegan beauty products, vegan wares and vegan celebrities. As public awareness of animal cruelty and exploitation increases, this festival offers an opportunity for attendees to experience plant-based alternatives, while simultaneously supporting animal rescue organisations.

“Everyone wins,” says Mark Lenzo, co-director and CEO of Illawarra Music Foundry. “As an NFP organisation we’re able to help rebuild the music industry in a creative way, while the community gets a fantastic event and the animal sanctuaries get the profits.”
