Sydney Vegan Market is back!
The team at the Sydney Vegan Market are beyond excited to welcome you back to the new-look Sydney Vegan Market (SVM) at the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, on Sunday 18th October.
This year the event has taken over more space at the EQ and socially distanced the stalls to ensure the community has a more enjoyable, COVID-safe experience, whilst still indulging in everything you love about SVM!
For over two years, SVM has brought so much more than just a market – and this one will be no exception. With 100 stalls selling 100% plant-based, cruelty-free and vegan food and drinks, along with homewares, art, fashion, and cosmetics. There will also be a bustling main stage showcasing local musical talent, plus our free yoga sessions to start your morning with mindfulness and intention; this is a full day of eating, drinking, shopping, education, and of course, fun!
It may have been a six-month-long hiatus, but the team haven’t just been snoozing behind the scenes! Back in April they launched VTV – An online community education program that aims to deliver educational, supportive and interactive webinars every month on IGTV.
Alongside VTV they set up Vegan NSW Marketplace; a curated space where creators of quality, ethically made vegan food and goods from all over NSW can connect to like-minded consumers. Kate Jones, Vegan NSW Markets Manager, said
“In the wake of the temporary cancellations of our beloved Sydney and Newcastle Vegan Markets, we knew we had to do something fast to keep our community connected, our staff employed and our stall holders in business. We went straight into action mode and just like that, Marketplace was born!
At the event expect gourmet vegan food outlets galore; we’re talking cheese, banh mi, souvlaki, cookies, chocolates, mac n cheese, burgers, dumplings, pasta… Did we mention cheese? (October is Vegan Cheese Month after all!)
Once your belly is full, grab a coffee or a chai (and maybe some more cake, because, CAKE), sit back on one of the many grassy picnic areas, and soak up the atmosphere and sunshine.
Single Use Plastic-Free
As always, the earth is our home remains the motto and so the event will be proudly single-use plastic-free; just don’t forget to BYO your (clean) containers and cups – we’ve worked out a way to use them safely!
Vendors will supply food and drink using bio-plastic and cardboard packaging, and this will all go straight into their composting bins! After the market, the waste will be taken to a commercial composting facility to be turned into soil. Very cool.
The team has worked incredibly hard to ensure that our re-start is safe for the community, vendors, and the volunteers, andwill be operating under a COVID Safe plan.
They ask that when attending the market, ensure you stick to the appropriate physical distancing guidelines and practice good hygiene. Hand sanitizer will be available and the wearing of masks is strongly recommended, but not mandatory. If you are feeling at all unwell, please stay home for the sake of your community. A few things may feel different this time around, but don’t worry – they are still bringing the good times and atmosphere you love, the amazing food, and of course, the main market day attraction… the dogs of SVM!
